In a conversation with my roommate last night, we were discussing how our jobs our similar. How being a preschool teacher and being a bartender are really much more closely related than one would think.
For instance we are both catalysts.
I am a catalyst for learning (giving them materials and ideas for exploring)
She is a catalyst for drinking (giving them liquor and ideas for drink concoctions)
We both keep an eye out for bodily fluids
I remind children to go potty in the bathroom
She reminds grownups to go puke in the bathroom
We both assist in emotional matters
I help children with hurt feelings to feel better
She helps grownups with hurt feelings to drown their sorrows
And at the end of the day regardless of how hectic or messy the days been,
I send children home (in the care of their parents) to their nice, warm comfy house
She sends the grownups out (often in the care of others) to the cold, damp streets
See, its really just 2 sides of the same coin.
